Presented is a tanned Copperhead snake hide ( Agkistrodon contortrix). This snake died from natural causes. Measures 2-3/8" (widest width) X 25" (overall length). This hide has been pickled, tanned and oiled. Has not been descaled ( but some has already come off ) and is pliable as is. This skin has one hole (near the pit- shown in pic with paper in the back) and will have T-pin size holes along the very edges of the belly scales used for drying. Excellent for any project or inlay...s. Glues will adhere to my skins/hides. Beautiful colors and pattern. Please view pics. Any haze is from flash only.
I was asked about the difference between a skin and hide- a hide is the complete snake ( head to the very end of tail/rattles). Also having the head skin is not rare, just an experienced person doing the work, taking time to carefully skin the tough areas. Also pertaining to descaling- the tan creates a sunburn effect.. To use skins/hides in leather work these need to be descaled which can be done by using an eraser popping the scales off working from head to tail..Also if purchasing more than 1 item Please request total before paying so you can get a combined shipping discount. Please do not pay until you are ready for it to be shipped.
