This awesome amplifier is an exce...llent performer. Wonderful details with glorious 70s warmth and power. This unit has tight control over the sound with excellent controls and flexibilities. All functions, inputs and outputs work properly. The QS-500 is a unique piece that could be used for all sorts of set ups. This amplifier is a detailed performer with just a beautiful and rich sound!
This unit has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out as well as the internal controls have been professionally cleaned and properly lubricated to ensure excellent performance. All pots have been professionally cleaned and lubricated as well. All capacitors, transistors and resistors have been verified to be in spec and were definitely replaced as needed. We use a stricter 5% tolerance when checking all parts to ensure a long future for your "new" vintage purchase. Most specifications allow for a +- 20% discrepancy and we use +- 5%. All solder joints have been checked for cold joints under magnification and reflowed where necessary including the lamp connections and other high heat areas that notoriously fail if not maintained and serviced.
We use Nichicon High Temp Electrolytic Capacitors (UPW, UKL, etc), Nichicon Muse Capacitors, Elna Silmic II Capacitors, Panasonic Electrolytic and Film Capacitors, WIMA Stacked Film Capacitors as well as Zetex, OnSemi and Fairchild semiconductors and Xicon 1% metal film resistors when needed. Bourns Multi-Turn and Sealed Variable Resistors (Potentiometers) are used for critical amp adjustment points. Omron Relays are used in protection circuits. Most consider these the best choices for vintage restorations and we always upgrade the voltage and temperature minimums on capacitors when appropriate to provide even longer service than the originals. This one owner unit is ready to go! It came in working well, but we thoroughly go through the unit to ensure its longevity.
All knobs, switches, faceplate, dial glass, case cover, bottom cover, internal chassis and rear connections were detailed, deep polished and ultrasonically cleaned where appropriate. This cleaning process alone takes 3 to 4 hours with the complete dismantling of the unit.
This series and era from Sansui has a wonderful level of performance. The QS-500 is no exception...arguably one of the best sounding amplifiers in its class that Sansui ever made...a gorgeous looking and sounding amp indeed!
All of the bulbs were replaced while the unit was serviced including the VU meter lamps. The illumination lighting looks fabulous. All service manual calibrations have been performed throughout the unit. The amp is crystal clear and provides nice deep bass with crisp highs! There is enough power for most any speakers while being a rock solid and stable unit!
All inputs, outputs and controls work as they should. This flexibility yields awesome sound and performance!
This unit comes ready to enjoy in fantastic cosmetic condition with very minimal wear and tear for a unit this age as shown in the pictures. This unit was not abused by the original owner and comes from a non-smoking home.
