"Eagle Against the Sun" is one of Chris Navarro's most popular sculptures, and the artist did huge renditions of this theme as well as smaller compositions. This bronze sculpture sits on a medium colored walnut base, and it turns on a golden hoop, with one wing free, another one attached, signifying the freedom of the soaring raptor against the sun. The eagle has a bright bronze head and a darker patina on the feathers, so it has quite a realistic feel. The whole scul...pture is 30 inches high by 19.5 inches wide by 9 inches deep, weighs 14.6 pounds, and has an engraved plaque on the front of the wooden base with the artist's name and title. The bronze hoop is engraved at the bottom by the artist with his signature and the edition number, 9 of 30. The piece has a kinetic quality in that the hoop can be turned easily with a fingertip, showing the eagle in all its power from all angles, just as though it is twisting in the air. This piece of art was purchased by the seller in 1992 and is in excellent condition with no scratches on the wooden base.
