It is strapped for 600-ohm output (easilyconfigured with a simple jumper change on the output transformer secondaryterminals). Transformershave normal continuity/resistance values but no other components have beentested. Coupling capacitors and electrolytic filter andbypass capacitors should be replaced before unit is powered u...p to avoiddamaging the amplifier. Also required is knowledge of good groundingand shielding practice. Theseamplifiers were designed as booster/program amplifiers in mixing consoles forradio and recording studios following an initial gain stage provided by amicrophone preamp with 40 dB of gain. They were also used as monitor amplifiers when B+ was increased to 300Vdc and an appropriate external line-to-voice-coil transformer was used. Dependingon your application, the 117A may be used as a microphone amplifier but testingand experimentation will be required to determine fitness for your particularsituation. Performance for yourapplication is not guaranteed and I cannot offer specific application advice. Theseamplifiers do not provide phantom power. Sold as-is due to age. Usual paint scuffing and discoloration but inoverall good cosmetic condition. Doesnot include tubes. Connector pins shouldbe carefully cleaned before use—be sure to use liquid solder flux and cleanterminals on connector tray carefully before soldering connecting wires.
