Uniformed in a zouave-style jacket, this soldier was photographed atBenton Barracks, St. Louis, Missouri, at the studio of EnochLong, who had operated as a “Daguerreian” at that city since 1848. The subjectis identified on the reverse of this CDV in period pencil only as “Fred.” Therevenue stamp is cancelled with “E.
