Handpainted on papyrus....
Art is depicting ancient Grecian vases which are on display in the Siracusa Archeological Museum.
Papyrus is made in the Siracusa Papyrus museum down the road from there...
From our friend's estate...she was a world traveler and likely picked these up during her travel to Italy in the 70's
Measures.... 11 x 9.5 inches
Wooden frames...no COA with them (unless its inside the frame)
The papyrus is aged to a lovely brown shade and is ...both pieces have a 'tear' on the left side where the paper is pulling apart. I suppose this is genuine damage... and not intentional...I have no idea. See last photo for a closeup example
But it definitely adds to the intrigue and authenticity appeal of something looking ancient!!! (more ancient than the 1970s)
