Anybody reading this auction knows just how good the ls3/5a can sound.
But so many LS3/5a's sold are hunted for their rarity and NOT their sound. The variations from Rogers, Chartwell, Spendor, RAM acoustics. KEF, Audiomaster etc. Those are all fine sounding and many of them are quite rare. But when it comes to sound, the pair that you are looking at was the CLEAR WINNER when compared to all the other variations in a controlled test by experts in the field. But these Harbeth speakers were the clear standout. (The difference in score between 5th place and 2nd place was only 10 points between all 4 versions, and then the Harbeth jumped 14 POINTS ahead of all the rest!
But this pair is also very rare in that it has an incredibly low serial # (#160a/b!!!) and are in very good condition as shown in the photos.
The price is less than HALF of what comparable Chartwell or other "rare" models might sell for. So if you are looking for just RARITY, then you might want to look elsewhere....but if you want your search to end and just want the BEST SOUNDING SPEAKERS you can own. These are it. Grab them while you can and imagine how great your holiday music can sound coming from these. One bonus is that these will almost certainly continue to INCREASE in value over the years while you enjoy them!
