A beautiful carved sculpture of a mother elephant walking with her baby created by Italian artist Amilcare Santini (1910-1975). Both elephants have their trunks raised and are set on a pretty veined marble base. The sculpture has the look of carved ivory but is a composite of marble, alabaster & resin. The sculpture & base are in excellent condition but I did notice a small imperfection on the end of the mothers tusk (see last photo). I am not sure if this was done when produce...d or if it is a small nick. The sculpture on base measures 7" in length, 3" wide & 6.5" tall.
