This auction features VINTAGE 1800S RED & WHITE HAND STITCHED AND QUILTED VEGETABLE DYE TURKEY TRACKS?Let me start with Im not an expert on quilts, Given that caveat , use your own expertise, and review all copy and photos. Also if you have more knowledge , please feel free to offer advice and I will edit the copy.This quilt is shown on a king size bed, it measures 84 inches by 76 inches. The colors are RED and TAN, but I believe the colors were RED and Green. The green ...color was originally a vegetable dyed and with time has faded to present tan color.I believe this quilt dates to late 1800s : The pattern is , I believe , an vintage Turkey Tracks , pre 1900. If my guess on the Vegetable dye is accurate, it would date pre 1900. Cotton seeds are visible when held up to light. The feel of this quilt dates to late 1800s.The craftsmen-ship is very good, it has a consistent 7 to 8 stitches per inch , see photos # 8 and 10.Your questions and comments will be warmly received.Insurance is included.

Color , if the colors are not in, or not pleasing to look at, does not fit into your decor, then the quilt has a lesser value to the buyer. Color is very subjective, and will very with each buyer. Being subjective color is probably the most important feature in you placing a value.
Condition , Issues , such as holes , stains, tears, , fraying odors, , lesssen the value of a quilt.As in most thing size matters:Small quilts command a lesser price the full size or king size quilts. Usually a twin size quilt will bring less $$$ , because there is less material, time spent in making and range of uses for a smaller quilt. Whereas a king size quilt can be used on any size bed, and requires more labor and material.Craftsmanship is the quality of the hand switching and quilting.The more stitches per inch the higher I rate the Craftsmanship, and a higher value I place on the quilt .
Age as factor is somewhat a subjective factor in valuing a quilt. Age to me is a very siginticate factor in placing value of a quilt. Quilts made in the revolutionary war era command a much greater value than a quilt made in the present day.Hand quilt command a higher price than machine quilting.
