ITEM DESCRIPTION:ORIGINAL White Star Line MV BRITANNIC(1929) / GEORGIC(1931) - Era Cabin / Tourist-Class Omnite Ashtray
A beautiful Omnite ashtray for the White Star Line by Fraser & Glass. Their Assembly Works were located at Middle Lane, Hornsey, London, N8. The front cigarette rest is embossed with “WHITE STAR LINE, ” in raised letters. The rear is hal...lmarked: “Omnite Ware, ” “522, ” “Fraser & Glass, London, N.8., ” “British Made.” These bakelite-type ashtrays can be seen in brochures for the BRITANNIC's public rooms and cabins (See last four photos).
The ashtray is in very good overall condition, but there is a thru-crack from the 8 o’clock position halfway up towards the 12 o’clock. SEE PHOTOS FOR CONDITION.
ITEM DIMENSIONS (approximate): 5-3/4” Dia. x 7/8” H.ITEM WEIGHT (approximate): 6 oz.

Personal Conservator Notes on Original Historical Artifacts and Ephemera:
• All Items are from my personal collection. These are historically invaluable treasures to me, and I do my best to treat them as such.• All items are stored and displayed in a smoke free home or storage area. • I try to maintain a RH of 45-55%, with an ambient temperature of 74 degrees. These are the most important factors for a collection.• I do not use flash photography on ephemera or textiles.• I do not display artifacts or ephemera in direct sunlight.• I handle documents and photos with the use of white cotton research gloves. • I handle unstable ceramics and glass with the use of nitrile gloves.• I hand wash and dry silver goods. I limit the polishing of silver, as this process removes a layer of plating each time. However, many of the sale items will receive a light polish to enhance their defects in the photos. • This item was displayed or photographed in a home with a small dog, a Japanese Chin. Keep this in mind, if you have dog hair allergies.
