This appears to be some sort of viewing tool, but we are not exactly sure what it is. We purchased it with an inventory of military surplus (mostly aircraft) parts. It has a triangle shaped mirror on one side (plus a spare mirror in the case) and a peice of glass mounted at an angle on the top. If you look throught the hole at the top you can see both ahead of you and the flat frame on the base. There is not an eyepiece just a hole and a clamping screw right next to the hole, maybe for... a camera.? It appears that a photo or card of some sort could be inserted in the frame. There is a rack and pinion style gear that have removable shafts on the bottom. It all mounts neatly in a wooden box with US Army stamped in the top. There are no other markings on the part or the box. If you know what it is we would love for you to share you knowledge with us. Please send a message.
