First magazine:
Near mint copy of Norman Kitzer's Wrestling Magazine August 1980, Vol. 17, No. 4., from the famous The Wrestling News family. This was at a time when they had gotten newsstand circulation after many years of selling by subscription and at arenas. This was also during a period when they had temporarily lost the Ring's Wrestling name that had been acquired from the boxing magazine.
Features include Kevin Von Erich, European wrestling, Bob Backlund (Backland) amateur tournament, Tommy Gilbert interview, Ken Mantell, Sue Brittain. gallery of women wrestler photos from England and the U.K., Joey Rossi, Ken Mantell, Bobby Jaggers, Dom DeNucci, Assassins, German wrestlers, news from all major promotions. The inside back cover is a full page advertisement selling merchandise of The Destroyer, including masks, t-shirts, and pens.
Second magazine:
Near mint copy of The Wrestling News Vol 17, no. 5, December 1980. Features Verne Gagne and Pedro Morales on the cover. Lars Anderson on back cover in color.
Articles featured include Gagne regaining the AWA world title, Morales returns to WWF (now WWE), Dusty Rhodes, Big Daddy (England), The Invader in Puerto Rico (who would a few years later cause the death of Bruiser Brody), Rick and Robert Gibson, Sheik Ali Hassan, Giant Baba and Jumbo Tsuruta win tournament in Detroit, Feature on ICW wrestling promotion, Lars Anderson and World League Wrestling, The Detroyer returns to Japan, Outlaw Ron Bass, Freddie Blassie, British wrestling, Jerry Blackwell, Roddy Piper interview, Buddy Rose interview, and reports from all major wrestling promotions. Many of the photos in the magazine were taken by Jim Cornette and the late Brian Hildebrand.
Along with The Wrestling News magazine, Ring's Wrestling magazine was the only professional wrestling publication during the era that provided news coverage from virtually every promotion in North America and many other promotions around the world. The write-ups, usually called Area Closeups, described the news of the past month, the champions of the territory, and the names of the stars appearing for each promotion.
