American Racer 1900-1939 by Stephen WrightLarge quarto (11 x 12.5 inches) Hardcover. Published by Motorbooks, 1989. (This is a reprint of the original edition published in 1979.) 355 pages plus index. A beautifully put together book with hundreds of black and white photos of racers and bikes most of them full page. Condition: Very minor corner and spine end wear. Interior clean and unmarked (we actually looked) else Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket has very slight wear at spine ends. Back o...f DJ is slightly rubbed with a 4 inch long thin scar (paper not split). Otherwise Very Good. Very Good or better copies of this book seem to be going for $165 and up on the internet. As I want to move this book, I'm starting it out at $110. but will not be reducing the price. In fact, I'll probably up the price to $125 in a few weeks. So poke around the internet and see if you can do better. Remember, if a listing says "may contain markings or highlighting" it means that the seller has not even bothered to look at the inside of the book. Some additional comments:Before I put a price on a book I'm offering on e-Bay, I like to poke around the internet and see what that book is currently selling for. Unfortunately, what I find is a whole lot of copies of the book of interest that are so badly described that it would be a gamble to purchase any of them. As an example, there is one dealer who lists 3 copies of this book on a booksellers' service. One copy has markings and highlighting in the text. A second copy has moderate to heavy notes, markings and worn covers. The third copy is listed as "as new." The interesting point is that the prices for all three are identical (over $240). Figure that one out.It is obvious that most sellers on e-Bay and other bookseller services have the objective of putting as many books as possible up for sale even if it means neglecting to give even the minimum of description of the book or its condition. We don't operate in this way. I try to give a complete and detailed description of a book and its condition. It takes a bit longer to do so, but take a look at our feedback to see whether our customers appreciate our approach.
