This is a wonderful period piece from a bygone era.It is an Edwardian servants bell box with an attached ringer with a lovely conical bell.Both items look to be functional but I have no quick way of testing them so they are being sold as an evocative and decorative item only.I particularly like the fact that although the house box only has two bedrooms, it does have its own gun room! There are also windows for the front door, the dining room and the drawing room.The box was made in Che...ster by Bertram Lakeman AMIEE - which I presume means he was an Associate of the Institution of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers (or something like that).The box needs a full scrub and it will be a fabulous talking point in your home.
