1860s PIERCED TIN FIXED GLOBE BELL BOTTOM WHITE STAR LINE NAUTICAL RED LANTERN
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:18102535 |
This is a VERY early Lantern has embossed text on the lower tin collar that reads simply “White Star” and we believe that it was originally us...ed on a ship of the White Star Line. The Lantern retains its original burner base and original wire cage and bale handle.
The replacement red glass globe features cast text that reads “Dietz / Blizzard Fitzall / New York U.S.A.”
This very rare and very early, Fixed Globe Pierced Tin Nautical Lantern is in very good condition but as stated above has a replacement, tall red glass globe. The tin elements are intact and sound although likely repainted a very long time ago. The Lantern retains its original font however there is a hole in the center of the base of the font as can be seen in the scans below. Overall the Lantern displays very nicely!!
A very rare and very attractive, 1860's Pierced Tin, Fixed Globe Bell Bottom Nautical Lantern from the White Star Steamship Line and a fantastic addition to any collection!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges: The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a $1.00 "packing fee" - the $1.00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the $1.00 fee.
