Offered is an Indian Bulbul Tarang also known as a button banjo or, in Japan, a taisho goto. They also have them in Pakistan where it is known as a Benju and in Germany as an akkordolia. I have to admit that the keys make me think of old typewriter keys but it gives a very neat, zither-like sound when the buttons are pressed. It does, of course, need to be tuned as I believe it dates to the 1950/60's time period. There are currently only two strings on it, but I'm not sure if there are... supposed to be more or not. There's at least one extra string in a package plus a replacement key holder and what I think are two picks. The instrument itself is attached to the bottom of the case it comes in and is really all one piece - case bottom and musical instrument. There is what I believe is a maker's name on the top board of the instrument but it I'm not really able to read it. It looks something like GE??NNa and there's a word above that which is blurred. Not sure of the language or actual letters, so if anyone can help with that, please send me a message through eBay. The case measures about 24.25 inches long, 4.25 inches wide and 3 inches deep. It fastens with a hook and eye and has a maroon plastic (?) handle. There are a couple of light scratches on the case and the remnants of a sticker, but it's in overall very nice condition. I'm not sure what type of wood it is made from but it is a yellowish brown with a pretty reddish brown grain going through it.
