Originally an artist box. Dates approximately 1840/1890.FULLY LOCKS with ease.The box is made from solid walnut.No missing or replaced timber.No missing or replaced brass. All the brass is original to the box.The brass catch to the side can elevate ...the box in a number of positions. This was more than likely an artist box many years ago.InWONDERFUL restored condition. Really is a terrific early box.Box retains the original lock, original hinges and top catch. Supplied with a silktassel and Victorian key that FULLY LOCKS thebox. Instruction given once sold.YOU ONLY GET THIS TYPE OF QUALITY FROM US.The lid opens fully to reveal a wonderful interior that has been relined inexpensive velvet material of thehighest quality.Beneath the base of the box has also been lined in velvet to stopany scratches to other surfaces.A superb box, and would make a fantastic gift.
