A lovely piece of mid century art with a classical style. This sculpture is of a natural female torso, very nicely rendered in what I believe to be plaster, painted with a slightly glossy off-white paint. Its a hollow piece, but quite heavy and solid. She weighs 16 lbs. and stands 18.25" tall, about 11" wide, and 7" deep. The sculpture was created in 1964 by the artist Marie Ricci; the surface is smooth with small imperfections that give it the character of a handmade sculpture. Would ...be a great decor piece for anyone inspired by femininity, goddesses, or figural sculpture.The fact that it has survived 50+ years despite being plaster is a testament to its craftsmanship and sturdiness; that being said, she has a few small chips to the paint on the base from being moved over time, as pictured.
