Columbia Brass and Cast Iron Oscillating Fan - Patent. 1914 - IT WORKS!.
Not a reproduction this is a rare, 105 year old fan that actually works well!
Original, Antique Century Brass Blade Electric Fan. The fan runs well, cools better than the newer fans, and looks great. Even the oscillator works. Description:Composition:Cast iron painted based and housing, brass blades and label, and painted steel cage. Size:The fan ...measures about 14" in overall height from the base to the top of the cage; the cage itself measures about 11" in diameter, the overall blade span is about 10" in diameter. Each of the four blades are about 4.25” inches by 3.5”. Markings:The maker’s tag on top of the motor reads in part "Century Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. Alternating Current Fan Manufactured in the USA by Century Eclectic Co St Louis, Mo Model 250 Patented December 29, 1914". The fan is also marked "CENTURY" on the brass tag on the front of the cage. The four blades of the fan are brass and the cage is steel. Condition:It works. We have used this off and on over the years and as well as being a lovely collectible, it cools beautifully! The fan has been rewired but needs a bit of cleaning. The black painted finish also has some wear and minor paint loss on the cage and there is a chip on the back of the fan motor housing (see pictures) .
