This is for a nice old Victorian needle case called The Royal Needle Case, its very rare to find this case as this in nickel silver, its much more usually encountered in brass. The design was registered to Avery in 1869 and it is clearly marked 'Made by W. Avery & Son, Redditch, patented'. The case has the same vase of flowers design on both sides and the inside pulls all the way out to show four numbered sockets from 6-9 to hold packets of needles. The sockets are decorated with b...irds and flowers and the whole case is in excellent condition as shown. It measures 80mm (3.25") x 44mm (1.75") closed.
