ANTIQUE DISSTON DOUBLEEAGLE BACK SAW 1840’S Here is avery rare saw to find – an early 1840’s Henry Disston 12” back saw with the“Double Eagle” stamp on the back. The double eagle was used on the finest backsaws Henry Disston made and with the age of this saw I am sure Henry himselfhand a hand in its creation. It is a very rare saw to find and this onefeatures a brass eagle medallion that is not mentioned on the authority ofDisston saws – The Disstonian Institute web site.... Thus again very rare. Theapple wood handle is in spectacular untouched condition with original longflowing horns. You rarely see long horns on these handles and the chamfering atthe front portion is crisp and not buggered up. Just the smallest chip out thetop right side of the top horn. The saw is in uncleaned condition as saws ofthe age and rarity should be. The saw plate is not sharpened but is straightwith good teeth. There are two holes in the saw plate where a depth guide wasin place at one time. A very rare saw that will probably be one of the oldestand rarest saws in any antique tool collection.
