This beautifullyrestored 1830’s hand painted oil on sheet iron tempest fugit form dial measures20 ¼” tall x 14” wide and features a delightful folk painting illustratingRobert Burns 1797 poem, The Cotter’s Saturday” in the tympanum and elegant lady’sdressed to represent the seasons of the year in the spandrels. It originally graced a tall case clock madeby William Giscard of Downham market who was active ca. 1822-1865. It comes with original brass indicators an...dNO time hands. It was carefullyover=painted where there was wear on the dial and you will note specks ofinpaint in the other paintings. The windholes are 1 5/8” on center from the hands arbor hole and the small indicatorsare 2” on center from center arbor. Thepaint is stable and clean.
