Follower of REMBRANDT ? - Dark Antique Oval Oil Painting Portrait of Gentleman (approx 25inches - 22.5inches Framed, approx 21.2inches - 18inches Panel from back)!Here we have a fine, dark and Iconic looking Oil Painting on Wooden Panel I would suggest dating to the 18th Century and depicting the almost eerie and mysterious looking Portrait of a Historic looking Gentleman in Shakesperian like Dress with a large - exaggerated White Collar, the piece certainly has a very s...trong feel of the works of the prestigeous Rembrandt Van Rijn and possibly Painted by a follower of his works in the 18th Century as seen, the piece is clearly Painted on period Panel which is evident from a frontal view however some bizarre reason it appears the previous owner had decided to over-Paint the back of the Panel as seen in pics 7 and 11 for some examples which is a shame. The piece is housed in beautiful and complimentary Crest Gilt - stylised Gesso Framing which compliments the image superbly as seen (I will package the item as best as possible however due the stated repair to the Gesso Crest I may require abit of leniency on this area while in transit due to it already being repaired). A great and Iconic looking piece with great and mysterious presence as seen!The piece in good - as seen condition for age showing age related display use - light surface crazing etc as seen, there are a couple of very minor imperfections and possibly a past repair to the Gesso Crest of the Frame as shown in pic12 for an example. Generally good overall - as seen condition for age..I have taken several pictures and you are bidding on the items as seen in pictures (please study all pics for exact condition)!Starting bidding very low with no reserve so good luck at auction!
