This “guaranteed” Very old antique Chinese baby’s collar/bib featuring an “orange” colored Tiger, is handmade of silk textile and is in “perfect condition”. The collar/bib measures 9 5/8” long x 9 1/2” wide at the widest point. The neck opening is 3” in diameter and weighs 51.7 grams. The baby tiger collar was worn around the neck of the child because it was thought that the tiger protected the baby/child from harm. The textile is completely hand made with incredibl...e detail. The mouth opens and the ears can be lifted up to expose their blue silk interior. The head, ears, feet, neck, legs and body are all separate pieces. They were then all sewed onto the body of the tiger with fine hand stitching. It was probably made this way to give more of a 3 dimensional “real” look to the tiger, which it does. The face in itself is completely 3 dimensional as all the features are raised with incredible luscious detail and color. The eyes look as though they can see, the mouth, teeth and the other 3 little teeth inside the flap of the mouth look real. The whiskers are made from a harder weaved textile and the tongue and nose makes one laugh. There were many hours of workmanship to make this truly a magical work of art. The tiger’s black stripe marks on his body are hand braided with what appears to be human hair. The neck closure opens and closes perfectly. The blue underside is made of a piece of beautiful blue silk sewn to the underneath of the body which completes the remarkable task of finishing off the “live like Tiger”. Every piece of this collar is handmade with an array of fine threads and materials and is in perfect condition.
