Vintage French ChristofleGallia SilverPlate Hors d’Œuvre Cocktail CheeseServing Plate, Louis XV Style
This vintage French Christofle Gallia silverplate serving plate is numbered 0460 on the back. Asindicated in the 1963 edition of the Christofle catalogue itwas destined for serving “petits fours” or cheese. It isdesigned in a pattern known as “Contours Unis” in the LouisXV style. Itbears the maker’s mark of the famous Ma...ison Christofle in Paris, theinitials “O.C.” (Orfèvrerie Christofle) surrounding thefigure of a knight from a chess set. It also bears the marks of Galliaconsistingof the image of a rooster above the word “Gallia”. The name Galliawasregistered by Christofle to launch their “ArtNouveau” silverplate flatware collection. The prestigious grand hotel LeRitz inParis, as well as the mythic train, the Orient Express, were equipped withluxurious table settings of Gallia “Art Nouveau” and “ArtDeco”flatware. This plate is in good condition with the exception ofscratches, two tiny dents and two tiny dark spots, all due to age and use. Please refer to the detailed photos on this page.
