PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR LOTS OF PHOTOSThis is a fine mystery object! I have never seen another! A prominent expert in Chinese porcelain suggested it might be used to store a hat, another thinks it is a spittoon. I do not think it is the right shape for a spittoon, but it is very unusual with its 2 pieces and hole in the top!
It weighs 4kg! it is 26cm across and 17cm tall (10.25" x 6.75") with hand painted blue Buddhist and Scholarly items from the 18th century. ...; If you have seen a similar thing before and know what it is please tell me because in 20+ years of dealing in Chinese ceramics I have not seen anything like this.
Condition: - the base has numerous chips to the rim. The tops has old glue repairs - see photos.
