For your consideration is a beautiful reverse carved pair of vintage crystal chandelier earrings. These wonderful vintage West German glass pieces are over 50 years old. This great old pair of earrings are reverse carved and painted intaglios and are 2 1/2" long and 1/2" . They are in pristine condition. There are no breaks or discolorations. These earrings are striking and displays excellent workm...anship, the kind not seen anymore. Each one has been individually and tediously put together using a vintage blue bead decorative stone, and sterling silver ear wires. This is truly a beautiful pair of earrings and quite a conversation piece when worn. They're something vintage and unusual, and something you don't see much of anymore. They are a chandelier style earrings, art deco styling. The ballerina featured on each earring is created as famed ballerina... Isadora Duncan. These cabochons were sometimes called intaglios, rosettes, reverse crystals or "Cabs". They date back to the 1940's and 1950's and are considered to be extremely rare and highly collectible. These "cabs" or cabochons contain intaglio images or scenes. Each piece was hand painted into a reverse carved image. These amazing pieces of art were first manufactured during the Victorian era. Because they are so tiny and intricate it is difficult to manufacture them today. Current high manufacturing costs make producing these crystals cost prohibitive. As a result, these crystals have become sought after rarities and collectors items. Anything available now has survived over the years and is not a new item. These are real collectors items...don't let this pair get away. One of a kind...I don't have anymore.
The Post Office now charges $2.54 for postage per a 1 ounce package, and the cost of my bubble envelope is 50 cents. Then the cost of wrapping supplies, paper, more bubble wrap, tape, printer ink, etc. really adds up. This packaging is necessary to make sure these glass pieces arrive in one piece and undamaged. My wrapping has evolved over the years, as the Post Office pays no attention to a package marked fragile! This does not include any money for my time, or the price of gas to and from the Post Office. Also, what no one is aware of...ebay/paypal now takes 9% of the shipping fees right off of the top as part of their fees...that's 27 cents, so I'm down to $2.73 for shipping by the time I get my money. Hope this helps you understand the cost of shipping and handling. NOTE: US Post Office international rates have just gone up to more than double the rates previously charged. I have no choice but to drastically increase my shipping charges to cover this massive 108% rate increase! International rates are now $6.60 for a one (1) ounce item! That means that I cannot even ship 2 items for the $6.60 charge! On Jan-26-14 at 17:31:30 PST, seller added the following information:
