Vintage Original Gerzit Gerz Lidded Stein West Germany - Commemorating the First German Railway from Nurnberg to Furth in 1835We are pleased to offer from our personal collection this Gerz Lidded Stein commemorating the first German railway from Nurnberg to Furth in 1835. This handsome ceramic stein has a panoramic scene of a coal engine train pulling an open passenger car and numerous covered sitting or sleeping compartments along a landscaped route through homes w...ith a gathering of well wishing people in period dress along the route. The sitting on top of the hinged pewter lid is a small train engine with an eagle bird with its wings outstretched. The stein is marked on the bottom "W. GERMANY / ORIGINAL GERZIT, GERZ". The stein is approximately 40-45 years old. We have displayed it on our shelves for over the years, but need to make room! This colorful stein that would be a wonderful addition to any collection of German steins. Please take the time to carefully review all the photographs for more details. Contact seller if you have any questions or if you require additional photographs for inspection.Measurements: The stein stands approximately 9 1/2 inches in height to the top of the lid. It is approximately 5 1/2 inches from the front of the stein to the end of the handle. The circular base measures approximately 4 inches in diameter. The stein weighs approximately 2.3 lbs. Measurements are approximate, but close.Condition: We carefully examined this item. NO Chips, Cracks, Breaks, Scratches, Stains, Repairs or Restorations were noted. The pewter lid is free of breaks, bends and dents, but does have a couple of tiny nicks to the outer rim, but nothing serious. The hinge functions properly and its attachment to the handle is firm without any wobbling. The stein has only been displayed and has never been used.
