PeerageBrass Fox’s Head Doorstop or Door Porter c.1920This desirablebrass doorstop is modelled as a naturalistic fox’s head. The handle combinesthe forms of a riding whip and a tail, and is slightly angled to maintain thecentre. The cast iron weighted base has a semi-circular foot, and is impressed –rather indistinctly – on the reverse: “PEERAGE ENGLAND” and the number 19478.Overallheight 18” or 45.5cmWeight 8lbsor 3.65kgIt wouldhave been made around 1920 at the Peerage f...actory in BirminghamVery good original condition with a good patina.
