This is one of the earliest skechbooks ODA Kaisen** ( 1785 - 1862 ) left.During the 1800s. Signed " ODA Collection " on the book cover.
This could be one of Kaisen's sketchbooks TOMIOKA Tessai had." Tessai bought some of Kaisen's sketchbooks, and had kept them until his last years "----from Research paper of TOMIOKA Tessai by ODAKANETaro ( 1909-1996 ), the late Director of the Tessai Research Institute, published in Showa 22 ( 1947 )

**ODA Kaisen 1785 : Born in Su'oh ( today the eastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture )1807 ~ : Learned from MATSUMURSA Goshun* ( 1752 - 1811 ) in Kyoto *Goshun ( the founder of the Shijo school of painting )1815~ : Learned Nanga* from RAI San'yo ( 1781 - 1832 ) in Kyoto *Nanga ( a school of painting originating in China )1818~: Visited Kyushu, the southernmost of the four main islands of Japan, and stayed Nagasaki* for a while. *During the Edo period, trade partners and their places for association were limited: that is, Hollanders and Chinese were approved trade in Nagasaki 1824~ : Became a painter patronized by Hagi clan1826~: Back to Kyoto again, and taught art students, including TOMIOKA Tessai (1837 - 1924 ).1863 : Enshrined in Ohbai-in of Daitokuji Temple in Kyoto
