SMALL ART DECO ENGLISH STERLING SILVER INKWELL - BIRMINGHAM 1931 - 3.81ozt SMALL ART DECO ENGLISH STERLING SILVER INKWELL - BIRMINGHAM 1931 - 3.81ozt From an estate clearance this is a small sterling silver desktop inkwell. There is no engraving. The base has a discreet decorative border around it's edge as pictured.Assayed in Birmingham during 1931 by Adie Brothers, the inkwell measures just less t...han 1.75" high with a 3.25" square base. It weighs in at 3.81 troy ounces (118.6g) although this will not be the true silver weight because the base has been additionally weighted for stability.The glass inkwell / liner is still present and in good order, so often these are missing or broken. There are a few typical light / faint scuffs and scratches around the bodywork and on the lid top commensurate with age and use but nothing really nasty or serious. A good polish will no doubt further restore former glory.This attractive looking and very functional old silver inkwell is being offered here in a used, vintage condition, exactly as pictured and with no reserve.
