In the third photograph of this huge stock pot I've shown the small logo of a prancing horse which appears on the edge of the cover and on the pot itself. He is underlined with a cable line which is usually an addition to a titled family crest. The pot is 15 inches tall with a diameter of 14 inches and has hand cut dovetails to the seaming on both the side and to the base plate. The cover to the pot is the close fitting type and has a very unusual feature in having a circular dri...p ring fitted to the inside to avoid condensation running past the cover. The handles to both the pot and its cover are of a typically English style that match each other perfectly and are made from heavy brass fitted firmly with copper rivets to the walls of the pot and cover which are approximately one sixteenth thick. At the time of its making there would have been a spigot tap and as was normal it was often removed by the copper smiths at the request of the new owner. There is now a blanking cap near the base which is very solidly in place and cannot be removed to re fix a tap unless by a qualified smith. The pot is in very good condition with no bumps or dents and has the great colour of antique copper. Its capacity is approximately 8 imp. gallons or 32 quarts.
