This quite unusual Victorian era pocket watch stand is decorated with inwardly carved Edelweiss flowers.The item is proably either Swiss or Austrian in origin.
The item acts asboth a travelling case to protect the watch and a stand to displaythe watch on a dressing or bedside table.
The condition is verygood for a piece of this age, with no detactable chips or cracks.
I am not totally sure of the type ofwood which has been used.Thecentral rebate (for the watch) m...easures about 1.5 inches (4 cm) indiameter.Thestand measures about 2.2 inches (6.1 cm) in height and2.3 inches (6.2 cm) in width when folded.Thesmall size may indicate that this item was originally made to containa lady's watch.Thisitem would set off any antique pocket watch to full advantageand would be ideal for anyone interested in Victorian style pieces ora collector of pocket watches.
