Up for no reserve auction is a very interesting antique Tibetan painting that came out of a wealthy Boston, MA, estate. This remarkable painting was put in a brand new modern frame by the last owner who said so, but the actual painting is very, very old. To be honest, I don't have a lot of knowle...dge of this piece... the painting appears to be on some kind of board/wood with a lacquer over it. This is one of two that I have listed, and this one has a small tear that gives a glimpse into the material that was used..almost looks like a hard canvas type material over board/wood. The painting looks like an early Tara or Guanyin figure that is really well done. Please look at all the pictures for the best idea of condition. Pictures #9 and #10 show the glossiness of the lacquer, and the lines through out the painting. The frame is perfect, but the paper backing has torn around the edges from being handled and carried incorrectly. This piece has a great aged look, and it even looks better in person. Don't miss out on this one, I couldn't really find anything like it.
