Hereis superb Victorian era carved gothic, medieval, heraldic style wooden shield shaped wall plaque.
This is made from oak with a nice dark patina.The heraldic devices include a diagonal banner containing three carved lion, or big cat masks, withtwo other carved wooden symbols.
Theitem is in excellent condition. There is some old glue residue, from a previous use, to the reverse, but it does not show at the front of the item.
There are four neatly drilled holes on the ...reverse, toenable the item to be wall hung.
Itis hand carved, so shows some variation in the decoration.The shield measures about 7.4 inches (18 cm) in height, and about 6.25 inches (16 cm) in width.
Asuperb display pieceof outstanding workmanship, and a great rarity.
