A Rare Set Of 4 Qing Dynasty Silver Manchu court ladies Fingernail Guards.
Beautifully pierced with a coin symbol and engraved to the front with a Peony flowers and leaves.
The inner reinforcing guard plate is pierced with the coin symbol to represent wealth, abundance and success in ones career.
Having long fingernails and wearing the nail guards especially on the fourth and fifth finger (little finger and ring finger) was a sign of power and beauty. Worn only by a ver...y elite group "The Manchu court ladies and noble women of the 19th century Qing dynasty"
