THE KINGDOM SON OF THE BAT #1, Featuring The DARK KNIGHT and KINGDOM COME! Original Untrimmed Cover Proof (AKA: Full-Wrap Publishers' Proof) THIS IS A MOSTLY BLACK COVER, HIGHLIGHTING NIGHTSTAR, BATMAN, AND ANOTHER CHARACTER. THE ART IS BY BRIAN APTHORP. This Was For DC Comics In 1998 For The Feb. 1999 First Print. GREAT COVER, FOR ANY DC... FAN OR KINGDOM COME BUFF! Extremely bright colors and superb gloss. Truly Incredible Eye-appeal: Very High-Quality Paper Was Used. Snow-white whites and colors so brilliant you'll think they're still wet! Because it is too large to fit the entire piece upon the scanner, you can only see a portion of the back cover color ad for Gap, but rest assured it's all here. Any admirer of the cool comics from back in the late twentieth century would happily add this showpiece to his or her comic art collection. This is a must-have piece of pop culture history for any fan of unique original cover production art, or just the serious D.C. fan who likes having true rarities but cannot afford to shell out four-figure$ for the black & white line art! Many of you have dealt with us over the years via our ads in C.B.M. and/or C.B.G.

We are secure packagers and prompt shippers so expect to be pleased. Back in the "good ole days", publishers normally burned or discarded such production art once the comic went to print. Mr. Jack Adler, the old VP of production at DC during the silver-bronze era, painfully recounted to me the tale of himself and fellow DC artist Jerry Serpi cutting up thousands of pages of original comic line art and production art. He said it broke his heart to destroy all that beautiful artwork; But back over a third-of-a-century ago, nobody foresaw the future value of such exclusive pieces of comic-book history! This type of item allowed the editors to make sure the alignment and all the color registration was just right, even in the advertisements, for all of the front and the back, and on the cover interiors, for this comic. There are no holes in the spine area, of course, and it has a broad white border around all edges, and does include the entire back cover, and all the ads filling the interior portions. This was the final step, and once the editorial and creative staff reviewed it and approved it for use, to make sure there were no glitches or misprints, the actual comic-book could hit the press. For additional information, check out the lengthy color article on the comics printing process in the September 2001 issue of Comic Book Marketplace (which is still available from us in our store.) Additional cover art can now be found by checking the other Key Comics ebay items (User ID: keycomics). Email us with any questions. Bid aggressively, as such items are genuinely rare! These items are brilliant and glossy, (obviously very well preserved), and they are larger than comic size; More than an inch taller than a modern comic, with pertinent publisher's info in bottom margin. I hope that the mediocre scan will convey that this is a great looking showpiece, which would be especially impressive framed. All colors are actually rich and uniform, and extremely bold thoughout. As Usual: LOW ASKING PRICE AND NO RESERVE!
