ANTIQUE Victorian Era Jewelry Box - Early To Mid 1800 ' S
Item History & Price
The style is unique, with a lid closing over three compartments, two of which swing open to reveal the third compartment. The lid has a tab enclosure which fits nicely into a slot on the face of the box.
Of particular note is the fact that this particular jewelry box was presented as a wedding gift in ...1856, from relatives in Westfield, NY to a couple in Ripley, NY, who had moved from Erie, Pa in 1841. Please read the handwritten note which describes this gift in nice detail.
The contents of this box also include a membership card in the Iowa Pharmaceutical Association, belonging to one George C. Dickson, likely an heir of the original couple who received the box as a wedding gift. An excellent anecdote of provenance for this marvelous piece or early American history.
Very special.
