Parting with a Rare Vintage Alps Wells Fargo Overland Stage Coach with Horses Battery Operated Tin Toy from Japan that I have had for a few months. Everything on the toy appears to be Original to the toy. I put batteries in the toy to test it and I could not get it to turn on. I do not know how to fix these toys and I do not know what is wrong with the toy. Here is what I do know: The guard is missing his head. The driver is missing the end of his whip ...although the spring rod is present. There is a rubber on one tires but not the other. When the wheel between the horses makes contact and is rolled the horses move up and down as they should. On the back of the toy it is marked – “Alps, Made in Japan” The toy measures about 18” x 3.5". I believe that this toy was made in the 1950’s but am not sure. One small wheel is wobbly, but has never come off. The battery switch end is broken off but there is enough exposed to manipulate with a finger. The horse carriage becomes unattached to the stage coach ensemble. All of the little prongs are present, but they are not bent over to secure the two pieces together.For parts, display, or repair.
