Here is a very nice British HMV Monarch variant gramophone, in original working condition. The finish and decal are original. The front ...bottom piece of molding is damaged -see photos- (this may be repaired, or perhaps the base molding can be flipped so this faces the back of the machine). This machine accepts a standard Victor horn elbow, and would have had a petal type horn in either black, red or apple green.The double-spring motor runs well. I believe at one time in this machines life, someone painted the exterior metal parts with metallic paint, I haven’t tried to remove this. The British Exhibition reproducer has new mica, gaskets and isolator gasket. The balance springs in the reproducer need replacement. The machine should have a thorough restoration, and proper adjustment.Overall, this is a very nice all original machine, untouched except for reproducer. This would make an excellent fall restoration project.Please review and supersize all images.
