Vintage ART DECO HUKIN & HEATH - ROYAL DOULTON Lady's Toast Rack & Butter Pat c. 1926A very rare and unusual vintage art deco lady's toast rack made by Hukin & Heath (silverplated rack) and Royal Doulton (porcelain butter pat plate). This was originally part of an English lady's breakfast tray.
Plate is made in the Pagoda pattern H1426.
Made in England in 1926.Silverplate rack is markings:
H & H (Hukin & Heath hallmark)
Patent No 2070-06 (English patent ...number)
Brevete S.G.D.G. No 369982 (French patent number)
Made in England 302Plate markings:
Royal Doulton backstamp (with no crown under the lion, that was only used from 1922-27).
H1426 (Pagoda pattern code) with the number 3 underneath it.
5.26 incised on plate (indicating the date it was made).Approximate measurements:
Rack 6-1/4" long and 3-7/8" tall. The butter pat dish is 3-3/8" in diameter.Condition:
This piece is in great condition considering it is 94 years old! This silverplate rack is unpolished showing a nice patina. It appears that there may be plate loss. It is difficult to know the exact condition of the silverplate without polishing. I will let the new lucky owner of this piece to decide if they would like to polish it. To porcelain butter pat has no chips or cracks. It does show crazing throughout from age. Also, there is an area above the pagoda that shows some discoloration.
