This is an antique fine hand embroidered love token sampler that was made to fit into the back of a PAIR CASED pocket watch case.
It reads: " BE long may you live and happy may you be WB ".
It is written B long E like that. BE and WB will be the initials of the maker and the recipient.
The fine material it is worked on is fairly see thru and has the wording on it as well as an edge too. It really is very lovely.
These were made by the wives o...f men and put into the back of their PAIR CASED pocket watch cases.... there is room for these as well as the end papers when the watch was sent to the repairers...later normal case watches NEVER had them in as there was no where for them... you only find these in PAIR CASED watches.
In good collectable condition with signs of age and use wear. There are a few tiny holes in the silk.
