Up for the auction is a beautiful late 19th to early 20th century Qing Chinese silk embroidered skirt.The base is a celadon green silk material with embroidered butterflies and flowers. I've taken a photo of the two main panels side by side so you can see that the subtle differences of hand embroidered stitches. The skirt measures approximately 37" top to bottom - the waistband about 7 inches and the skirt proper is 31 inches.
The fron...t is in excellent condition. The only noticeable repair is on the right side (if you're looking at the photo) where the waist band is attached to the embroidery. Whoever repaired it was pretty heavy handed, but there is no damage done and it could be re-repaired by someone with a better stitching hand. The back side is lined with a red silk that has shows wear and shattering (see photos). This is not visible from the front side.
