You are bidding on a vintage Coleman double mantle white gas lantern model 228E. Dated 6/62 for June 1962. This lantern has been restored to working condition. Works very well as can be seen in the photos. Comes with a restored metal clamshell carry case model 228-567.This lantern came from the collection of an avid Coleman lantern collector, he took the time to clean up and restore all his lanterns as close to their original beauty as he could. This lantern is no exception and looks a...mazing for its age. I have given it a brief test fire in order to not over fire mark the polished burner tubes. The marks from the test firing can be easily cleaned off. Leather pump cup has been soaked in neatsfoot oil. New cap gasket and has an original red letter Coleman Pyrex globe with no chips or cracks. Some minor paint scuffs on fuel font. Check valve works well. Original decal and paint. Frame and burner tubes have been thoroughly cleaned. Ventilator in good shape, has a few small chips on the upper vent above the spot welds. This was common from these years as the spot welds area was not cleaned well and the porcelain enamel paint did not stick as good as it should.Metal carry case has been restored and repainted. Has a tiny pin hole on one of the bottom feet as can be seen in the photos. Nothing horrible and does not affect the use of the case. Has an original Coleman no.0 filter funnel.This is a great working lantern and displays very well.Fuel tank will be drained and blown dry with compressed air prior to shipping.Payment must be received 7 days from auction end or item will be relisted.
