Marvellous Victorian Antique 9ct Solid Gold Brooch w Carved Malachite OwlThis terrific brooch appears to date to 1870s-80s. It is un-marked; tests confirm it to be 375 pure, the 9ct gold standard. It’s not perfect but too good to nit-pick.The brooch has a simple vertical gold tubular frame that surrounds an owl perched on a “branch”. The owl is a beautifully carved piece of solid green malachite with oodles of fine detail. It has small garnet bead eyes and a gold beak for additi...onal effect. It has a simple pin and hook hasp fitting.As said, it’s not perfect but considered to be in good antique condition. The owl’s wing and top feathers have small flea bite nicks; these blend and are only seen on very close examination.
