Up for auction is a very pretty FRENCH 950 standard silver TEAPOT, made by maker CG, c.1880.This beautiful teapot has FLAT CHASED and ACID ETCHED GRAPEVINE AND LEAF decoration. The scenes are highlighted against a finely matted background. The decoration covers the whole body of the teapot, as well as the pedestal base and lid/cover. There are 2 central APPLIED, scroll surround cartouches (never monogrammed). The CHASED APPLIED spout is formed as a LIFELIKE BEARDED MASK ...FACE, the detail is exceptional. The lid/cover has an unusual BAYONET fitting.The base and lid/cover are FULLY and CLEARLY marked with MINERVA 1st standard (950 pure) maker CG (see pic) made c.1880MEASUREMENTS : Approx. 27cm/10.5 inches (handle to tip of spout).
