Sheaffer Lifetime Touchdown Tuckaway C. 1949 Vintage Fountain Pen Pencil Set
Item History & Price
I've been buying old pens in quantity since the 1980s, and it's time to pass along some of the projects I'm never going to have time to get around to. No junk here -- these are good pieces that need work, priced accordingly.Black Touchdown set, c. 1949, pencil uses standard 0.9 mm lead, works fine as is, fountain pen will need new sac (#17 or #17 1/2) and new O-ring seal at end of barrel for pneumatic filling system, both easily source...d and installed. Small crack at the front of the barrel (see detail) will also have to be sealed to make the barrel airtight. No really a stressed area, since the barrel mouth is reinforced by a metal ring. Big two-tone 14K gold nib is intact with tipping, firm not flexible. Some shrinkage to pen cap plastic over metal liner, does not affect cap to barrel fit.
