A Highly Decorative Antique and hand Carved Folding Fire Screen of Eastern origins, probably Anglo-Indian or Burmese and dating to around the 1850s.
It has 3 panels and each is intricately hand carved from a very heavy tropical hardwood. (Padouk ?) Each panel is carved in high relief and features a different floral design on each. The designs includes Iris, Lotus and Grape Vi...nes and other fruits. Each panel finished with a scrolling foliate border topped with carved scroll finials. It has a gorgous deep chocolate coloured patina only achieved over many years!
A very attractive and rare example, the detail in the carving is quite stunning and clearly the work of a by a truly gifted craftsmen.
A lovely addition to any Eastern or Oriental-themed interior design Scheme.
Dimensions:33 inches in height x 41 width (once opened up fully!)
Each panel measures 33 inches in height x 13.5 inches in width
Condition:In Excellent used Antique condition. Some very minor marking and light scuffs here and there! Hinges are all original Some very minor losses in places to the carved surface.
Overall a gorgeous Example in Untouched Antique Condition that displays beautifully.
