This is a vintage IMCO Coughlan's Fire Starter Sparker Lighter. It says"Patent--Made in Austria but also says Coughlan's Winnipeg Canada. It belonged to my late husband who was an Eagle Scout and hiked in his young years. It was put away in a cupboard in the house for at least 30 years. Great condition.
I don't know how it works, but I have to assume it does as its condition is so perfect. There are no extra flints in the handle container.
O...nly sign of discoloration is on the bottom handle seam as shown in photos. It is still shiny and does not look its age.
Sold as is because of my lack of knowledge about how to use it.
