Up for grabs is this stunning, rare Coconut Chair designed by George Mulhauser of George Nelson and Associates for Herman Miller! Chair upholstery is original white Naugahyde, with age appropriate wear to edges. Some “sunburn” is present, which is very common for white vinyls of this vintage. There is one razor slice to the front of the seat, which should be easily repairable by a professional leather technician. The metal shell was painted with white latex house paint long ago, an...d this layer was delicately removed to reveal the original finish. Normal patina to chrome legs.
Purchased from the son of the original owner, who said his father purchased new in 1955. An excellent example from the first year of production - these retail new from Herman Miller for $8600!
